A Dash Through Marseilles and Lyon

After leaving Barcelona and the comforts of not having to pack on a daily basis we hit the road again to resume our normal pace of travel spending one night in both Marseille and Lyon. We managed to cram a few sights into both places though we could have stayed longer (especially in Lyon).

The Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica overlooking Marseille, a church was first built on this site in 1214.

View from Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica. If you look closely you can see Château d'If,  a small island prison

Inside the Basilica

Yield to bank robbers ? Look closely at what the man has in his hands. We translated the writing beside it and turns out to say something about prohibiting dumping of materials….. not sure how that relates to the bank robber.

Marseille Harbor

Lyon at night. The Cathedral Notre-Dame-de-Fourviere overlooking Lyon

Tiny hotel room with only a sink or salad bar??

Next up, Chamonix and the French Alps.
